Training Program for Informal Caregivers of Seniors

Care Services Navigation and Care Skills Development Program for informal Caregivers of Seniors and Seniors Aging in Place.

This FREE program (3 sessions) is part of an NBCC research project. The outcome is for Informal Caregivers to gain knowledge in preparedness for caregiving role, support networks, access of services/supports, intellectual stimulation and decrease social isolation and loneliness.

Three sessions in Norton (lunch is provided):
Friday Nov 17, 10am to 4 pm
Thursday Nov 23, 12 noon to 8:30 pm
Friday Nov 24, 8am to 3pm

This research project is funded through the Provincial Initiatives Fund of the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project (HSPP; Social Development).

With this research project, we hope to enhance the quality of informal care provided to seniors aging at home. Training programs will be delivered to family caregivers with the focus of Care-services navigation & care skills development. The curriculum will be evaluated by pre and post questionnaires and focus groups.

Daycare for the senior, if required, will be provided in a separate room at the Municipal Building, and will be supervised by NBCC PN students or PSW students from those programs as part of their clinical placements.
